Packing for Vacations or Business for Extended Stays Trips

Packing for Vacations or business for extended stays trips

So, you’re getting ready to travel?! Rooms are booked, itinerary is set and bags are packed! Or
are they? While packing may be one of the most tedious details of a trip, it can prove to be
extremely beneficial when tackled effectively. However, the difference between packing for a
weekend trip and vacation trip or business trip for an extended stay trip is quite drastic.

Lucky for you we’ve compiled a few go-to packing hacks to make your traveling run smoothly.
So, whether you’re staying out our extended stay hotel in Los Angeles or a hostel in Europe,
you’ll have packing down pat!

Below are a few things to keep in mind when it comes time to fill your suitcase!

1. Check the Weather
First and foremost, check the weather. We can’t stress this one enough. Visit sites like
weather.com or download a weather app to see the forecast of the city you’re headed too. While
this information can change in the drop of a hat, you’ll get a ballpark of what to expect on your
trip. However, extended stay trips require a bit more research. Head to sites like
www.weatherbase.com or www.cityrating.com/weather-history/ and find out average monthly
highs and lows. The last thing you want it to be under prepared when it comes to the weather.
Don’t skip this step!

2. Downsize Toiletries
Now, we’re not saying you should skip shampooing and conditioning for a week or two, but we
are saying that you should find the best travel size toiletries to compensate for your personal
favorites. We understand how hard it can be to part with any product used in your daily routine,
but it’s important that they fit into your luggage and don’t add too much weight. Remember that
airlines require that liquid products be no more than 3 oz. and must fit in a clear quart size
plastic bag.

3. Choose Your Luggage Wisely
Choose your luggage based on your traveling occasion. If you’re planning on backpacking
across Europe, we wouldn’t recommend using the same suitcase as you would if you were
staying at a hostel in Los Angeles, for a week or two. Consider the modes of transportation you
will be using during your vacation and which type of luggage would ease the commuting
process. Backpack vs. rolling suitcase? Duffle bag vs. a small carry-on? You decide!

4. Invest in Packing Organizers
Packing cubes, they’re light, inexpensive and definitely worth a try! Packing organizers are a
great investment if you’re looking for something long-lasting, practical and environmentally
friendly! Who doesn’t love that? Smaller packing cubes are ideal for packing a carry-on bag
because they’re perfect for organizing and compressing your clothing.

5. Keep It Simple
As much as we would all love to have our entire wardrobe with us when we travel, it’s just not
realistic. Keep it simple. Coordinate outfits from different pieces of clothing to help you stretch
your wardrobe, if you can, a limit the number of shoes you must bring – a trick that will help you
avoid weighing down your luggage.

Remember that you’re there to explore, sightsee and experience everything your travel
destination has to offer. So, pack smart, pack light and have fun!
